The Journey
It all began as a little girl. Drawing animals. Painting flowers. At age 9 Shelley bought her first film DSLR. By age 12, she was running her own photography business. Yet Shelley was just as excited to create a logo and business collateral as she was about her photography. It seems as soon as she had access to a computer and printer, she was creating designs for cards, albums, posters, and brochures. One pivotal day at the Clark County fair, a judge opened her eyes to the field of "Graphic Design." He told her that she had a natural eye and should consider pursuing graphic design as a career.
Shelley discovered her passion for visual communication design while studying at Clark College in Vancouver, WA. It was there that she also began her career as a graphic designer in 2011. She worked as part of the design team for the Phoenix: Clark College’s Art and Literary Publication. She ventured from her small town roots and continued her education at Seattle Pacific University. In June of 2013, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Arts in Visual Communication Design. In August of 2013, she began working as a Graphic Designer for an outdoors gear company called Industrial Revolution. She enjoyed working on the marketing team and implementing her design skills into a wide range of media. As part of a rapidly growing company, she was excited to help improve their process as well as their visual communication. Currently, Shelley gets to put her skills to work at the Coffee Oasis—a non-profit organization with a mission to change the world for homeless youth! |
